Music Notation Software

This is a screen shot of taken of Coda Music's Notepad Freeware. It is a wonderful beginning level program that is appropriate for students just beginning to understand note reading. Students can write their own tunes, listen to them, add lyrics, and write up to 8 staves.

Finale in general is quite powerful and this freeware is a great way to entice the user to purchase the full version, but I am glad that we live in a time where there are alternatives. How can anyone disagree that MuseScore, which is free, is a viable alternative. There is also another software I've been keeping my eye on, called Music Jotter - Music Notation Software. Word has it that Music Jotter was created by just one programmer who is an actual composer himself!
