I have been directing bands for 20 years. My BA is from San Diego State University (GO AZTECS!) and am currently working on my ME at Auburn University (WAR EAGLE!).
My short-term goal is to become a better teacher for my kids and eventually to end up teaching in a university setting.
I teach grades 5 through 12 at Goldthwaite Independent School District and have for the past 11 years. My classes are the 5th grade recorder class, 6th grade beginning band, 7th grade band, high school band and applied music. Currently, there are just short of 200 students enrolled in my program.
I play French Horn as my primary instrument, but have managed through the years to pick up enough skill on the other instruments in the band to stay ahead of my middle school students, and most of my high school students. Percussion, however, remains a mystery to me.
